Uruguayan forward Martin Satriano joins Getafe on loan until the end of the season, bolstering Jose Bordalas's depleted attack. Following Borja Mayoral's injury, the team currently relies on just one pure striker, Juanmi Jimenez.

The 24-year-old Montevideo-born attacker marks the Azulones' first winter transfer window signing, the club confirmed on Friday. Getafe have now resolved their administrative issues with LaLiga, clearing the path to register new players.

Satriano's arrival begins to address Jose Bordalas's repeated calls for squad reinforcements. The manager has frequently lamented his side's short squad this season, with only 20 of 25 possible roster spots filled until Friday.

Injuries to Mayoral, Davinchi, Abu Kamara, and Abdel Abqar further depleted the Getafe squad. Last matchday, against Real Sociedad, they even played without central defenders due to suspensions for Djene Dakonam and Domingos Duarte.

Satriano developed through the youth ranks of his home country's Nacional and Inter Milan, where he made his Serie A debut during the 2021-22 season.

The Italian club subsequently loaned him to teams including Brest, Empoli, and Lens, before Lens acquired him permanently for €5 million. This season, Lens then loaned the forward to Olympique Lyon. Notably, the Rhone-based club exercised their purchase option before sending him to Getafe.

This season, he has notched three goals – two in Ligue 1, both against Nantes, and another in the Europa League, which he scored against Salzburg on 2 October. In total, he has featured in 19 official matches, starting 15 of them, and also contributed one assist.

Satriano's arrival strengthens an area of the pitch where Getafe desperately required reinforcements. Juanmi, Bordalas's only available striker, does not enjoy the Alicante coach's full confidence and could even depart this window to ease the wage bill.

Furthermore, injuries to Mayoral and Kamara – a summer signing who has not settled – forced the Azulones' coach to deploy a winger like Adrian Liso or midfielders such as Mario Martin in the attacking spearhead.

Satriano's signing is unlikely to be Getafe's last this winter transfer window. Uruguayan centre-back Sebastian Boselli from River Plate, Argentine forward Chimy Avila, and midfielder Dani Rodriguez are all potential future signings for the Madrid-based club.
