Mario Balotelli has been away from the headlines for a while, but now he has returned following the sacking of Patrick Vieira as coach of Genoa.

Genoa sit bottom of the table and are one of four teams yet to win a match in this Serie A season, along with Fiorentina, Hellas Verona and Pisa. Following the Frenchman's dismissal, the Italian launched a scathing attack, seemingly fuelled by his time under Vieira at Nice and his past with the 'Grifone'.

"Sweet karma. God sees everything and takes care of the rest. Now, Genoa can finally focus on people who truly care about the environment, the fans and the badge, and who deeply believe that Genoa deserves to be at the top," he posted on Instagram.

"The excellent work done by Gilardino and Zangrillo was not in vain. It was simply exploited selfishly and dishonestly by those who succeeded them, taking advantage of what they built with perseverance, respect and passion. They destroyed the immense work of Gilardino and Zangrillo, their commitment and dedication to these colours, without really understanding its value," added Mario Balotelli.

Genoa, who have appointed the young Spaniard Diego López (36 years old) as his replacement, visit Sassuolo this Monday. If they win, they will escape the 'zero club' and record their first victory to draw level on points with Pisa, who are just outside the relegation zone. And now, they will have the support of Mario Balotelli from afar.
