Portugal Opens Consultation on Online Gaming and Sports Betting Rule Changes

Portugal's gambling regulator SRIJ has approved draft amendments to two key regulations governing online gaming operations, opening a public consultation period for industry stakeholders.

Regulations Under ReviewThe Gaming Commission of Turismo de Portugal approved the following draft amendments in December 2025 and January 2026:

Regulation 828/2015 – Rules governing online slot machines and gaming machinesRegulation 903-A/2015 – Rules governing fixed-odds online sports bettingConsultation DeadlineInterested parties have 20 working days from January 27, 2026, to submit contributions and feedback on the proposed changes. Submissions should be sent to the regulator's dedicated email address.

The original regulations date back to late 2015, when Portugal established its regulated online gambling framework. These amendments represent a significant update to the operational rules that licensed operators must follow.
