Nordic Countries Launch Major Cross-Border Gambling Survey of 30,000 Residents

Lottstift and the University of Bergen are participating in an unprecedented Nordic collaboration on a large-scale gambling behavior survey spanning five countries.

Standardized Cross-Border ResearchThe "Gambling in the Nordic Region 2025" survey aims to generate comparable data across all participating nations. To ensure consistency, the research methodology has been standardized across all countries, with Danish firm Epinion selected as the common data collection provider.

In Norway, most participants receive survey invitations via Digipost, while others receive physical mail sent from Denmark. This marks the first time multiple Nordic countries have collaborated on a joint international gambling study of this scale.

Regulatory ImplicationsThe survey results are expected to provide valuable insights for developing gambling regulation across the Nordic region. By enabling direct comparisons between markets with different regulatory frameworks, the data could inform future policy decisions on licensing, responsible gambling measures, and market oversight.
