Denmark Opens New Licence Category for Walkie-Talkie and Radio Bingo

The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) is set to introduce a new licence category for bingo operators using walkie-talkie and local radio broadcasts, with applications opening from 1 January 2026.

Application ProcessOperators looking to offer bingo via walkie-talkie or radio must apply using form 1-02, titled "Apply for a walkie-talkie or radio bingo licence." The form will be available on the regulator's revenue-restricted licenses page. A digital version will also be published on virk.dk, though this may not be available until later in January.

Each applicant will be assigned a dedicated contact person at Spillemyndigheden who will provide guidance throughout the application process and remain as the primary contact for the duration of the licence.

Compliance RequirementsThe new licences fall under the Danish Gambling Act and the Executive Order on Online Casino. Key requirements include:

Operators must submit an annual compliance report covering their first year of operationsThe report must be filed no later than 14 months after the licence is put into useReports must detail how the operator has complied with licence conditions and relevant legislationSpillemyndigheden will provide a report template (form 1-04) on its website, which licence holders can complete themselves.

Update: The enabling bill was adopted by parliament on 19 December 2025, confirming the January 2026 launch date.
