Danish Betting Market Plunges 46% in October as Online Casinos Surge
Denmark's total gambling spend reached DKK 599 million in October 2025, marking a 3.4% decline compared to the same month last year, according to new data from Spillemyndigheden.
Betting Takes Major HitThe headline figure masks a significant shift in player behavior across verticals. The betting market experienced a dramatic 46.0% decrease year-on-year, driving the overall market decline despite growth in other segments.
Online Casinos Lead GrowthWhile betting struggled, online casinos posted strong gains with a 24.4% increase in consumption. Land-based casinos also performed well, up 6.0%, while gaming machines showed modest growth of 0.6%.
The data suggests Danish players are shifting spend from sports betting to casino products, a trend operators in the market will need to monitor closely heading into the busy Q4 period.
