ANJ Partners with French Drug Observatory to Study Gambling Addiction
The ANJ and OFDT (French Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction) signed a partnership agreement on June 22, 2021, aimed at improving understanding of gambling behaviors and addiction to better protect players and maintain gambling as a recreational activity.
Key Partnership AreasThe agreement, signed by ANJ President Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin and OFDT Director Julien Morel D'Arleux, covers three main areas of cooperation:
Supporting exclusive rights holders in implementing their obligation to allocate 0.002% of stakes to fund scientific studies on gambling and addictionSharing sector expertise to produce regular research supporting responsible gambling objectivesExchanging data and knowledge on gambling addiction mechanisms to promote scientific research and publicationsAction Plan for 2021-2022The framework agreement establishes a shared action plan for 2021 and 2022, prioritizing work to strengthen gambling regulation effectiveness and the robustness of ANJ decisions.
Under the agreement, ANJ may invite OFDT to participate in the advisory committee on excessive gambling prevention. OFDT may also invite ANJ to contribute to its scientific college on gambling-related addiction topics.
The partnership is set to run for three years.
